Billy Lyons shot by "Stack" Lee Shelton on Christmas Night, 1895
Delia Green shot by Moses "Cooney" Houston on Christmas Eve 1900

Both of these are fascinating cases - I had never heard of either before, or of the songs they inspired. I'd always thought that murder-inspired ballads were strictly pre-1900. Thank you, once again, for enlightening me - and all the best for 2011!
